I grew up in the Nation Of ‘Islam’. When I went to college I converted to Islam. The Nation is a Black Nationalistic group that mixes a variety of religions together. They promote self-help for Black people and bean pies are one of the items they sell. Bean pies are made of navy beans and all the other ingredients you probably put in a sweet potato pie. They are delicious, but I no longer eat them out of principal.
