I think it’s more of a economics problem. Historically, there have been advantages for women to get married: 1. Women are generally conditioned from young to take care and raise children. Marriage is a vehicle for this. 2. Women used to be discriminated against more in the workplace. They wouldn’t have enough money unless they got married. Nowadays, things have improved, and women make more money (but still statistically less than men). The divorce rate has also increased during this time period. From the viewpoint of men: 1. Historically, women took care of the house and provided sex. Nowadays, due to the women’s lib movement, many women refuse to be placed in that role. Many wish to work, and demand equal share of household responsibilities. Also, since premarital sex is more widely accepted (and therefore more available), a man can easily have sex without getting married. All this puts men at a disadvantage when they commit. It’s no wonder men don’t wish to get married.
