I like Eleonor Roosevelt’s quote: ‘No one can make you feel inferior without your permission’. Think about it… and don’t let these people’s attitudes shape your day. Usually those who act the way you described have their own issues with self-confidence and self-worth, and are just trying to make themselves feel better by treating you like you are stupid. Basically, they see you as an easy target, and just go for it (maybe, their reasoning is: well, I am not a doctor or a lawyer, but at least I am better than someone who works at a video store’… and it makes them feel better or something). That’s unfortunate, but more so for them-just look at them as the pathetic ones. I have a graduate degree and a pretty good job right now, but I had to put myself through college by having all kinds of places (fast food, custodian, etc), I never really felf the way you feel though because I guess I just don’t care much about what those strangers felt/thought about me.
