Scientology is not a true religion. It is a cult, started by its founder l. ron hubbard. They actually make followers sign away their right to speak freely about a lot of it, they also pay celebrities to endorse it. It is a fraud. I have heard talks from an ex-scientologist, a former best friend of hubbards who lived with him aboard a submarine. He said that they claimed hubbard had reached the ‘highest level’ of enlightenment. But, when hubbard died they claimed that he had reached a new level of enlightenment, previously not discussed, to keep the religion going. basically, it’s one of the best scams of the past century. I forget this guys name but he has written about scientology before. Everytime he makes some money they sue him for everything so he lives in perpetual poverty.
