Actually, there are young women who are choosing to become nuns; I know of three orders in the New York City area alone who are successfully attracting young women. The main reason you don’t see many young nuns is that most orders are in a state of flux over what their missions are; Active vs. Contemplative, etc. (or whether the mission of their order is still relevant). If you can’t articulate what it means to be religious, you’re not going attract new members to your order.
