Okay, removing the shoes before entering a house is a universal tradition (with a few exceptios). In Nigeria, we do take shoes off before entering the house, in order not to bring in dust/dirt and mess up people’s floors/carpets/mats. Removing shoes is also a sign of respect. Humbling yourself by walking barefoot. In mosques and certain churches, people remove their shoes before entering (remember Moses and the burning bush?).
