It’s nice that you believe people choose to be homosexual out of some vague desire. But I’d like to find out on what data you base this belief. When – after trying both sides, after a long dispassionate study – did you choose to become heterosexual? What factors prompted your decision? What tempted you to become homosexual? If you’ve never been there, how can you know? The problem with your belief is that it requires no empirical data. Suppose someone tells you that all left-handed people choose to be left-handed and that all who choose to be left-handed do so out of some vague desire that is sinful, contrary to the ways of God and man. If that person tells you he believes in this position – that his Bible, Koran or whatever sacred text he cites tells him so – how can you refute him? Suppose you ask him to speak with left-handed people – but he says he doesn’t need to. He already knows. Then how can you ever move him beyond belief to discovery?
