Maybe you don’t find it too offensive because you are not of Asian descent. One of my Korean friends almost pulls her hair out whe referred to as a Oriental. The word is so dated. Ever hear some Anglo in a old movie refer to someone as Oriental? Not only is it dated but most importantly it’s improperly used. The stereotype is that all Asians look a like so therefore they group them all together. This way of thinking is also shown when a Spanish speaking person is referred to as a Mexican. It is amazingly ignorant. Oriental is equally as offensive as negro and just about as old. It’s time for it to go–way overdue.
