…americans owned slaves at a time when slavery was commonplace, and whites are still taken to task for it. conversely, north-african arabs continue to use slaves in a post-slavery world, but are lionized as victims of whiteness all the same. perhaps there’s a better example of the double standard that the original poster speaks of, but it’s there nonetheless.
