Simon: First of all, a short man would not look like the woman’s child if he was taller than her. Even so, the one worrying how it looks to others is the insecure one. Also, there are psychological studies that show that tall men often have trouble in the real world because they are so used to getting their own way. No evidence supports your assertion that shorter people are more likely to be trying to prove themselves than taller people. When a tall guy accomplishes something no one attributes it to his trying to ‘prove himself.’ Why do that when a short man accomplishes something?
