I think ‘Anglo’ would be offensive if it wasn’t accurate. The Irish descend from the Celtic tribe of Europeans, not the Anglo-Saxons. Plus, there isn’t anything wrong with holding anti-British sentiment (it’s no different than holding anti-U.S. sentiments if you’re Native American). The British haven’t been exactly fair to the Irish, and if you’re on the losing side of cultural warfare, wouldn’t you be offended if you were grouped with the oppressors?
