When i was a kid, my father wouldn’t admit to anyone that he was from a reservation in Oklahoma. He would agree with whatever anyone would assume he might be. He passed himself off as Greek, Italian, etc. He said Indians were savages. That was really sad to me.

Now times have changed. I would love to see what he would claim now if he were still alive. I don’t bother telling anyone I am half Cherokee because so many people say that now that it’s become a fad. I don’t think I have any friends who don’t claim to be at least some small fraction of some tribe.
