Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific. I had in mind questions which, all other things being equal, an African American would be more likely to know than their white counterpart. This would include questions on black history, the civil rights movement, African culture, music, literature, and so on. The kind of question I have in mind was exemplified the other night when they asked in which city Rosa Parks’ refusal to relinquish her bus seat sparked a boycott of the public transport. I honestly couldn’t remember if it was Birmingham or Montgomery, and I should know that sort of thing if I care anything about our shared American experience. So, you see, having a greater diversity of questions would level the playing field. I do not think the show is particularly biased but it is hard to justify not having some questions that pertain more to African Americans. (Questions on women’s history would not hurt anything either.)
