Conservatives have been cultivating this persecution complex for years now. During his 72 campaign, Nixon accused the Post of media bias. This cultivated myth has led to the media giving this administration a totally free ride. The depth and breadth of the strategic and tactical errors in Iraq and the overall war on terrorists have been glossed over by a press that is scared into submission by the administrations careful use of patriotism and nationalism. People need to remember that the Lewinsky affair was not discovered and reported by some conservative press, but rather by the ‘liberal’ Newsweek.
