The reason the people of the hispanic race are so diverse looking is because there are different races within the race. Puerto ricans specifically are mixed with black,white, and indian. The first people in Puerto Rico were the indians, then the Spanish(white hispanics) colonized it, and the whites and indians intermarried. Then the black slaves were brought over and after they were freed there was intermarriage, that is where the black comes from. This is why there are light and dark hispanics. I myself am mixed with black,white,indian, and west indian,but I identify with black.
