SCU29538
I grew up upper-middle class (by my standards, my friends say I grew up rich). Hot tub, TV, 40 acres of forest, all that. After high school, I spent a year living on my own (with roommates) far from home, supporting myself at a minimum wage job without any financial help from my parents. Grocery shopping at Aldi, buying clothes at thrift stores, all that. Since then, I’ve gotten a better job, and I’m pretty middle class. Qualitatively, I can’t say that it really had an affect on my happiness or how much fun I had. I did different things – tooling around in the industrial wasteland, hanging out with interesting but sketchy people when I didn’t have much. When I was rich I met interesting and often sketchy people in coffee shops and tooled around downtown. It’s all life.
