Well, I can partially explain it. I know as a bottom it’s a very safe feeling. Knowing that there is someone in charge of you, taking of care of you. There’s a theory on child abuse and submission. I dont’ know what to say to that. It makes many people uncomfortable, but I can’t deny it because of personal experiences and pasts of friends. Another aspect is the rush you can get from feeling helpless and knowing you’re at their mercy. Pain is pleasure for many people and perhaps that is their motivation. I know I enjoy pain at a limit, but I can’t explain it. It’s kind of a submissive thing. If you’re going to dominate someone I think that’s exactly what it is about, domination. I don’t know much about that side of the spectrum. I haven’t participated in S&M myself, but It’s hardly a weird thing to me.
