I don’t agree with denyse. I think what you are seeing is indicative of the state of race relations in this country. I usually avoid eye contact with WM because I don’t expect to be acknowledged. When I was in New York visiting, I was shocked when a WM stranger on the street spoke to me. But especially since you’re in Kentucky, I think it’s because they don’t expect you to pay them any attention.
