The best gynecologist I've ever had is an 80 year old man who works at my local Planned Parenthood. I asked him once why he went into the profession. He saw, as a medical student in an ER, a woman die from complications from an illegal abortion. Not only did he want to provide women with options, he also really likes babies and kids, so getting to work with pregnant women was an extra treat. I've seen one male gynecologist who was terrible (pap smears hurt) and a female who was extremely insensitive (she didn't have cramps and thought no one else did either). I guess when you've done pap smears for close to 60 years, you get really good at it!
