To make a long story short…. 4 of the Sabbats fall on Solstices or Equinoxes. The other 4 fall directly in between (more or less). It is not so much the changing of the seasons that is important for me. It is more in recognizing that the Wheel of the Year is turning. If you really get involved, you will find that there is more or less a story that goes along with the year. The God is born of the Goddess at Yule. Samhain represents the death of the God. Yule (in the Northern Hemisphere at least) is the time when we have the shortest amount of daylight. Everyday after that, until the Summer Solstice, the days grow longer and longer as the God grows in his power. At the Summer Solstice, we have the most amount of sunlight. Following, the days get shorter and shorter, representing the God growing into old age and eventually passing on. You do not need to have clearly defined seasons to celebrate the Sabbats. In my opinion, you only need know why we celebrate. It is very interesting and worth looking into if you decide to follow the path. Blessed Be
