I would like to add to Al’s post that in most traditional streams of Judaism, one cannot become “not-Jewish.” Al and other Jews who subscribe to non-Jewish belief systems are considered heretics, but remain Jewish in light of most interpretations of Judaism. This is because Judaism has a definition of being Jewish that is based on descent (One’s mother has to be Jewish) or conversion into Judaism. Once you are Jewish, that’s it. You can’t get out.
May I add that I found Al’s description of Judaism as “hypocritical” and the title “Judaism is dead” very insulting and hurtful? They also added nothing to his post.
