this question is connected to the one above it about why people make fun of men who have lost their penises or testes . men in western cultures tend to be valued for thier dick, their brain, and their accomplishments or money. women are valued for thier bodies, their adonrments, their cooking or housekeeping, their kids. so women pick on eachothers looks and people make fun of men who dont have fully intact genitals for the same reasons—- they are the places we associate with womanness or manness. of course, we are all people with brains of our own and these things are merely surface, but they are powerful becasue of our socialization.
