I see this response often when somebody brings up the participation of African oligarchs in the trans-atlantic slave trade, that they ‘had no idea what conditions they were selling their slaves into’. What you could clear up for me is exactly how did they treat their slaves so differently from the way whites treated slaves so as to completely exonerate the kings of Africa while leaving the white slave traders/owners solely responsible for the atrocity. Did slaves in Africa own land? Were they paid? Was the work more rewarding, like middle-management or gameshow hosting? Also, you make the claim that the white man brought war to the african continent, (‘…As a result, there was inter and intra-ethnic wars’) if this is true, then where did they get the slaves they were selling in the first place? I know I’m sounding flippant and closed-minded here, but if you can prove this to me, that european slavery was more atrocious than any of the slavery in the presumable nine-thousand years preceding it so as to completely nullify the fact that the white world abolished the practice over a century ago and whites from all walks of life must bear personal responsibility for SLAVERY (not just the slavery whites were involved with, but apparently all slavery since aknowleging that there was slavery whites weren’t involved with is considered in itself a symptom of white supemacist thinking) in perpetuity, I will accept it. indeed, like most whites i was brought up (by other whites mostly) to bear the title ‘oppressor’ without complaint or question. i will again if you can illustrate this for me.
