Seems obvious to me. Lesbian scenes are exciting to straight men because men in general are turned on by visual cues (which is why they like graphic porn more than women do.) Women, on the other hand, seem to require more psychological stimulation (hence the popularity of romance novels and chick flicks). If women’s sexuality was as visually motivated as men, I’m sure there’d be a lot more straight women renting gay male porn videos (though I imagine that a few do.) Since men control more of our entertainment and media, we see more lesbian images in our culture. And since we’ve all been taught to accept women as beautiful objects, these images don’t seem so shocking or offensive.
