White Hispanics may identify themselves culturally first but most are not shy about admitting/telling their race, as the Black latinos are. I’ve met many white, blue eyed latinos who say ‘my race is white, and I’m Hispanic.’ Also evidence of this shows where 50% of US Hispanics put ‘white’ as their race. When it comes to ‘Black’ hispanics though, many of them deny their ancestors came from Africa and deny that they are racially Black. Black/negro or whatever term you wanna use IS a race. My parents and family are from Jamaica and while they are all Jamaican, they are still ‘black’ racially. So there is a difference between culture and race AND there is a difference between african-american and ‘black’. Furthermore, your argument about mixed race blacks shows what an ignorant person you are. The fact is that 1) MOST blacks in the West are mixed, 2) Black genes generally dominate so people that are mixed with black tend to look like the rest of the black population even if both of thier parents were not black. Third and most important, we live in a very anti-black society so that since these mixed race black people LOOK black they are subject to the same anti-black culture that most blacks are which further pushes them to identify as black. Black people don’t require that mixed race blacks say their only black, the fact is that a man like Tiger Woods LOOKS like a regular everyday black man, AND as we have seen he gets treated like one so generally mixed race blacks identify more with Blacks.
