I think the first reply was a little strong – maybe more than just a little. I don’t think pornographic or erotic collections can be considered a problem until they interfere with other important aspects of a person’s life (with the strong exception of ‘kiddie porn,’ which is terrible, abusive and insane). Perhaps your husband’s interest in porn is a sign of a lack of interest in something else. Maybe if you could get him interested in developing another hobby, that could steer him away a bit more and comfort you some.

I wouldn’t bother being intimidated by any particular things he’s looking at, like white guys with black girls. Don’t make the big leap to thinking that what he finds visually attractive and fantastic is something he wants in real life. Personally, I find that at the times that I’m involved with a girl, I still like to spend time with myself, sexually. Even though I’m totally satisfied with this girlfriend, that doesn’t mean I’m interested in giving up an old part of myself.

I know that women can get very jealous of men looking at other women, or pictures of other women, but remember that a big difference between men and women is that guys (stereotypically speaking) separate love and sex, whereas women (stereotypically) don’t. His sexual fantasies may be varied and vivid, but aren’t a good indicator of his commitment to you. The only good way to find that out is by asking him, not some silly web page. Communication is key. Maybe you could explore his fantasies with him and become more a part of his sexual life, and be more of a sexual partner to him. Make sure you develop your sexual fantasies also, and share them with him.

Obsession is generally a bad thing, unless perhaps it’s toward something creative. I would say that if he’s obsessing over the porn collection, and by that I mean to the point he is neglecting other important aspects of his life, you should try to help him develop the important things in his life. If he’s not obsessing, and you are just insecure about it, maybe you could develop some kind of interest in erotica and share that together as partners.
