I’ve been employed since the age of 17, and I can tell you that yes, Whites are very controlling people. I’m in the insurance industry and have been so for about eight years. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to advise supervisors, etc. that while they can certainly tell me what needs to be done, they cannot tell me HOW to do the job. I’ve actually had people stand directly over me while I work, and I had to ask them to please not stand over/near me while I’m working; that when the project is complete, I’ll advise them. I even had one manager tell me that my files were turned the ‘wrong’ way, because she had to turn a certain way to look for something. I advised her that I set up my files for my convenience…not hers.
