The fact that you and Michele were intimate makes this an easy question to answer: Yes. It is wrong for you to pursue her mother. The relationship you had with Michele could and probably will rear its ugly head at some point along the way in the relationship, and it’s not worth the pain, awkwardness or possible distrust.
