As a smoker, I try not to offend others with my habit. It’s a shame to litter, no matter if it’s cig butts or anything else! Throwing butts out is also a fire hazard in some places. On the other hand, it is irritating when there is no place to put cig butts on the ever-lessening areas outside where we are allowed to smoke. I carry a metal tin to put my butts in so I don’t have to litter and I offer it to others to dispose of theirs. It would be helpful if there were more receptacles to discard butts in. One reason people throw them out the vehicle window is that a used ashtray lessens the trade in value of an automobile. That is no excuse because there are other options, like a ashtray that fits in a cup holder.
