Birthdays and the importance of when we were born, etc. are connected with numerology, astrology and other occult practices. Many even come from the belief that demons were present at our birth and can be provoked into bestowing blessings if we do appropriate rituals on the anniversary of our birthdays. The Jews of the Old Testament and early Christians did not celebrate birthdays for this reason. The religions that founded the United States also did not celebrate birthdays or holidays because of the pagan religious connections. Even Christmas was illegal the first 130 years or so of U.S. history, from 1620-1750. After that, only fasting on Christmas was done for another 100 years or so, until the commercial industry introduced Christmas to the United States.
