To me this is not a black/white thing. I feel that you will like cats or dogs if you have been exposed to them and if you have not been exposed to someone else’s negative or positive attitude. I was exposed to cats early in life and found them to be very easy to house train. They are very loving. I have also found them to be very good watch animals if you learn their body language. They may not be as verbal as a dog but they can alert you if someone is around the house, if a child is sick, if there is a gas leak, oh my goodness, a wide variety of things. As I said you just have to intune youself to the cats way of communicating. They are very perceptive of a person’s true character.
